Addendum to Mother’s Day Special

Addendum to Mother’s Day Special Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 Our presentation at the MACHE conference went extremely well. Our vendor table was swamped with folks who thumbed through our products, especially our study guide and cookbook. We nearly sold out! Wendy spoke at two churches on Sunday in her home town of Pine City, a nerve-racking-yet-exciting speaking opportunity for Wendy. She has quite a testimony (we will post on that later). Earlier last month to prepare for the conference a

Building a Catholic Church…caveat emptor!

Building a Catholic Church…Caveat Emptor! By Hugh J. McNichol * There are a couple of things that really seem to be popular in the world of liturgical art and architecture. The first thing is to make parishioners and clergy aware of the fact that they both have a responsibility to procure the highest quality of available materials ...]

Baseball Today: Wednesday, April 23

Journal photos / Bob Breidenbach GOLD DUST TWINS: Jacoby Ellsbury's two-homer night -- and his mad dash home from first base with the winning run in the eighth inning (above right) -- got most of the attention, but he shared the spotlight with Dustin Pedroia in the Red Sox' come-from-behind 7-6 win over the Angels. Paul Kenyon's game story not only chronicles Ellsbury's night, but also the four-hit, three-double performance of Pedroia (above left), who knocked in Ellsbury with the run that bro

Quick Note

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 06:18:19 PDT
Just a quick entry to let you all know, I'm still posting and sewing - in fact, the bodice of my McCall dress is finished. I have a doctor appointment this morning so I knew it would be awhile before I could put anything up otherwise. I promise to give everyone an 'official' update later on this afternoon of how the visit went, etc. along with some fun contest news from Kris and I.

Stoners in the Mist revisited - the quiz

Stoners in the Mist revisited - the quiz I couldn't help myself. I knew better, but I decided to go back to Stoners in the Mist and explore some more of this propaganda. This time, I decided I should know some more about marijuana, so I took the quiz. I didn't do so well (mostly because I refused to answer the answers that I knew they considered the "right" answer). Question 1: Approximately 1 in 10 fatal car accident victims test positive for which drug? Prescription DrugsMethMarijuanaEcs

Presidential Election: A Strong Word of Caution

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 06:18:51 PDT
The voters of Pennsylvania have spoken and Senator Clinton can claim a substantial and significant victory. A ten point margin is a big win and she is likely to gain about a dozen delegates toward closing the gap with Obama. Her supporters have reason to celebrate today and only resulting in dragging this election into the next millennium! For those of us who wanted an end to this highly charged race, we have to shake the hands of our opponents, maintain a stiff upper lip and shepherd on! B

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 06:19:32 PDT
Tribune CEO Sam Zell indicated in a conference call last week that he may sell Newsday and other Tribune assets, a reversal of his plan to keep Tribune's paper businesses in place. Rupert Murdoch indicated interest in buying Newsday from Tribune Co., for about $580 million. News of a deal was reported Monday by The Wall Street Journal, which Murdoch bought last December, and on Tuesday, by Newsday and The Chicago Tribune. The deal is interesting from several angles. First, Zell is reversing

Airfares: Book those summer flights now

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 06:20:19 PDT
Delta's chief says fares need to rise by up to 20 percent to cover the increased cost of doing business, says the AP. Southwest is the only major airline not to have lost hundreds of millions of dollars in the past few months, primarily due to the higher cost of jet fuel. Fares may jump considerably in the near future. If you're planning to buy summer tickets, what are you waiting for? Fares are only bound to go up, on average, as the days tick by. United is in talks with US Airways and Con
